WITx Week 1 Email
Email shared with WITx Learners regarding Week 1 activities and submissions.
Dear WITx Learners,
First up, let me extend a warm welcome to all of you. It is wonderful to have you all learn with us and I'm absolutely looking forward to the next two weeks :)
Yesterday we officially kickstarted the WITx Learning Program. We had a quick live to brief our way forward. Sharing the live for those of you who were unable to join in on the session: here
A quick summary of what we discussed in the live can also be found here: WITx Program Plan
This week's activities
This week, we focus on two themes, #discover and #connect.
Yesterday (Oct 26), we had a quick activity around the #discover theme. Quickly summarising what you girls did:
- Discovered 3 opportunities each (anything that you were interested in or wished to pursue)
- Tweeted the links to 3 opportunities to @rethinkcollect, with hashtags #opportunity and #witx
All this in just about 15 minutes. Any clue as to how many opportunities we collectively discovered? 70 of you participated in the activity yesterday. Simple math - 70*3 = 210.
All it took to discover 210 opportunities was a bunch of us, 15 minutes and of course, some googling :)
I could tell that this activity was great for you! Special thanks to Rasmi, Farha, Archana and Elsa for coordinating this one :)
The upcoming activity that you all have for this week is around the theme #connect.
Why #connect with people?
The importance of having peer groups in our life is huge. You need people to support you and guide you along - someone who can understand what you are saying! The importance of finding yourself coaches, mentors and influencers is also vital to your progress - someone who helps you grow and progress beyond what you thought would be possible.
In today's times, it is absolutely crucial for you to be able to recognise the people who might be able to help you, reach out to them and establish a meaningful professional relationship.
So, what are we going to do?
This week, you will figure out how to write an email to someone and connect with them.
The WIT Cohort 1 participants, as part of their #connect activity had interviewed a previous winner of an opportunity of their choice and/or a role model they look up to. These interviews can be located from the WIT Cohort 1 wiki. (Find this by googling for "WIT Cohort 1". The wiki is also linked to the WIT program website).
What we want you to do is pick an interview that you'd like to watch (can be random or based on your area of interest). Watch that interview and compile a summary blog covering your key takeaways from that interview. Then write an email to the WIT participant who conducted that interview. (Have v@r marked in cc)
In your email to the WIT participant, include two things:
- The link to your interview summary blog
- What you liked about the interview and that participant :)
Remember, this is an opportunity for you to really connect with a WIT participant. So ensure that in your email, you make a genuine attempt to connect with them. One of the key principles of connecting with people is to make them feel good. Make it personal and ensure that your email to the WIT participant does just that :)
As regards to emailing practices and how to write a good email, take a look at this blog on writing better emails: https://blog.rethinkfoundation.in/on-writing-better-emails-9779a5a07597 You may also checkout TWTWs by WIT girls for Week 4 (their connect week) to understand how they went about it.
Submissions for the week
This week, you have the following submissions to make:
- Link to your tweet containing 3 opportunities. (Those of you who submitted multiple tweets, share the link to just one of those)
- Your interview summary blog (Use medium.com for writing this blog. Create an account if you don't have one already.)
- Your first TWTW :) -- TWTW stands for The Week That Was. It is a summary of all that you did in a week and what you learned from your experiences. Take a look at TWTWs by WIT Cohort 1 to get an idea on how to go about it. (TWTWs in the Cohort 1 wiki and use medium.com to write your TWTW)
How to make the Submissions
As always, our submissions will happen through the Rethinkbot on Telegram.
Ping the Rethinkbot on telegram and type the following to make your submissions.

Do make use of the Telegram group to discuss with your peers and take help. Our Program Guides will also be around to help you out in the process :) On that note, get cracking! We look forward to your submissions!
